a change of pace

i think i've pretty much decided that SF is going to be my life for the next 2 or 3 years. this past weekend really gave me time to reflect on my options and i concluded that right now, it's time to explore. quite a bit of people recently have had their own divergent road in life which had them learn a little more about themselves--

Bra: teaching English in China for a year
Claire: going to anywhere but home to get an 'experience'
Carrie and Mike: wanting to move up to SF just for the same reasons as mine.

these people are just a few examples of what i need right now. B-school will always be there. suffice to say, i need a little more experience anyway (1.5 years is pretty substandard for B-school). i really want to gain some experience so that i can write a kick-ass admissions essay without feeling guilty about making it all up.

SOCAL has always been good to me. but i feel like being contained in this bubble, especially the 626, has kept me really sheltered from other things that i could be doing. i kinda feel like the high school student who wants to break free from his/her parents and go off to college far away. there's a difference between me and those kids. they actually got to spend at least 2 year of their lives branching out and experiencing new things. don't get me wrong...being in socal has definitely been awesome...it's actually been my life. but it's definitely time for a change--someone turn up Frou Frou's "Let Go" (is that even an appropriate song??)

so yeah...just my shpeel. i think the hardest part now is letting my dad know =P he's gon' be pissssseddddd haha

on another note...daylight savings is coming up! for all of you who don't know and need a reminder as to when it is, it's on NOVEMBER 4 this year. what i didnt know is that our daylight savings is actually a LAW. what the hell? i didnt know you could standardize time through a LAW. here is an exerpt of what i found regarding daylight savings:

Starting in 2007, daylight time begins in the United States on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November. On the second Sunday in March, clocks are set ahead one hour at 2:00 a.m. local standard time, which becomes 3:00 a.m. local daylight time. On the first Sunday in November, clocks are set back one hour at 2:00 a.m. local daylight time, which becomes 1:00 a.m. local standard time. These dates were established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Pub. L. no. 109-58, 119 Stat 594 (2005).

Not all places in the U.S. observe daylight time. In particular, Hawaii and most of Arizona do not use it. Indiana adopted its use beginning in 2006.

* In 2006, daylight time begins on April 2 and ends on October 29.
* In 2007, daylight time begins on March 11 and ends on November 4. [New law goes into effect.]
* In 2008, daylight time begins on March 9 and ends on November 2.

Many other countries observe some form of "summer time", but they do not necessarily change their clocks on the same dates as the U.S.

Daylight time and time zones in the U.S. are defined in the U.S. Code, Title 15, Chapter 6, Subchapter IX -

WOOOO HOOOOO.....
